In the past I’ve used my laptop as a Bluetooth LAN router, so that I could access the internet at home with my phone (which doesn’t have any WLAN capability), mainly to hear streaming audio in my headphones walking around the house without having to pay for 3G network access or a Bluetooth headset.

Today I’m gonna be p**sed off in my blog. The time has come to replace my ageing laptop, which at 4 years old finally bit the bullet a couple of weeks ago, when a power cord wrapped around my office chair gave it a sharp tug across the desk as I got up, rendering the hard disk dead.

But that’s not what I’m disgruntled about. What’s bugging me after researching possible replacements is the same thing that bugged me last year when I replaced my cellphone: all the high-end devices are stylistically designed for men. Read more…
